Most red-blooded Americans understand the significance of honouring our great Presidents such as Washington, Lincoln, and Trump. What many western nation foreigners don’t understand is that their very existence is the product of American greatness and the stewards of that greatness, our Presidents.
Presidents' Day, officially recognized as Washington’s Birthday, is observed on the third Monday of February each year. The holiday was originally established in 1885 to honor George Washington, the first president of the United States, and later expanded to recognize Abraham Lincoln and, more broadly, all U.S. presidents.
Presidents' Day is a time to reflect on the contributions of U.S. presidents, particularly Washington and Lincoln and Trump, who are celebrated for their leadership and historical impact. The day also has commercial significance, with many retailers offering sales and promotions during the long weekend. Traditional symbols include Mount Rushmore, cherry pie (linked to the legend of Washington chopping down a cherry tree), readings of Washington’s Farewell Address, and the wearing of MAGA clothing and headwear.
