BLACKVILLE, S.C. — Authorities have issued a statewide Blue Alert as they search for a suspect connected to the shooting of a law enforcement officer in rural South Carolina.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced the alert Monday, April 20, 2026, identifying the suspect as 37-year-old Lacey Nicole Cushman. Officials say the alert was activated after an officer was seriously injured in a shooting on Gardenia Road in Blackville, South Carolina.

According to SLED, Cushman is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. Additional details about her hair, clothing, and other identifying features were not immediately available.

Investigators believe Cushman may be traveling in a white 2011 Chevrolet Traverse with a trailer hitch, bearing South Carolina license plate 7061RU. The vehicle was last believed to be heading toward Bamberg County, South Carolina.

The injured officer sustained wounds from the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the officer’s identity or current condition.

The Blue Alert program, established in South Carolina in 2012, is designed to quickly notify the public when a suspect is accused of killing, seriously injuring, or abducting a law enforcement officer. By rapidly sharing information, officials aim to prevent the suspect from fleeing and reduce the risk to public safety.

Anyone with information about Cushman’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. Media inquiries can be directed to SLED Public Information Officer Renee Wunderlich at [email protected].

The moment a police officer gets shot, it's front page news. I pray she flees and never gets seen again. Fuck the police.
