JOHNSTOWN, Pa (
WJAC) – Police say a Johnstown man is facing a slew of charges after attempting to light a four-year-old child on fire and "burn the demon out of him," according to a criminal complaint.
Josiah James McIntosh, 27, was arrested on Wednesday following a "domestic disturbance" incident at a residence along Wren Street in Southmont Borough, police say.
McIntosh faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, making terroristic threats, arson and child endangerment, according to court documents.
Authorities say at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the residence for a reported domestic situation.
Upon arriving at the scene, police say they spoke to a man who told them that McIntosh attacked and threw a brick at him when he intervened with his attempt to harm the child.
Police added that they observed visible injuries to the man's left side, as well as his head and ear area.
Officers say they then located the child, who was standing naked inside the residence and had gasoline poured on him and around him.
Following a brief search of the neighborhood, police say they located McIntosh, who smelled of gasoline and was in possession of a disposable lighter.
McIntosh is being housed at the
Cambria County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail, court dockets show, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27.
