Commanders vs Eagles @ Northwest Stadium; Landover, MD

We start in four minutes. If the Eagles lose, then the Cowboys actually have a prayer of making the playoffs. If my Commanders lose, then the Cowboys go home, the Eagles make the playoffs, and our seventh seed is in jeopardy.

It all boils down to this game.

Four minutes till showtime.

Stay tuned.

Fuck me; the Eagles are now 14-0 against us. Shitshitshitshitshit.

21-7 with the Eagles leading...Quinn better turn this shxt around.

Still 21-7; the Eagles have the ball. Our defense better not shxt the bed.

Got another TD; we're now 21-14 with the Eagles still leading. The Eagles have the ball.

Halftime. Taking a break here.

Commanders ahead; 28-27. Quinn better keep his shxt together.

Eagles have the ball; our defense better hold.

OH FUCK NO THE EAGLES DID NOT GET THAT FIELD GOAL.

Another field goal? 33-28 for the Eagles. This is bullshit.

We have the ball, 25 seconds left...time for a miracle.

Jayden's spiking the ball, while well-intentioned, won't do fuck-all.

HOLY FUCKING DOGSHIT WE ACTUALLY WON! 36-33 IN OUR FAVOR!

Jeremy McNichols and Jayden Daniels pulled a turnaround that people will talk about for decades.

THERE IS A GOD! To whatever Higher Power made this happen...THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I miss the name, too. But we gotta move on. Just as we moved away from the leather helmets and the fullback position, we need to move away from racist names.

The logo, OTOH, was produced by a Native artist named Walter Wetzel, featuring a Native Chief (John 'Two Guns' White Calf), and had the official sanction of the Blackfeet Nation. That's why no one is complaining about the recent decision to use it on throwback uniforms.

That will probably be the compromise going forward, the team will remain the Commanders, but they are allowed to use the Redskins logo on throwback merchandise.

Personally I'm kind of split on the whole Native American logo thing. On one hand it's clear that a lot of teams use them as a caricature or had a stereotypical idea of what the American Indians were like that tomahawk chop chant is annoying as fuck). But on the other hand, if the team identity is done respectfully, and especially with the endorsement of a local federally-recognized Indian tribe, then there shouldn't be a problem. That's what happened with the Florida Seminoles as well as the Spokane Indians: both got blessings from their local tribes to use their names... and undoubtedly merchandising revenue for the tribes helped grease the wheels. In any case, as long as the logo is respectful and not and insulting caricatures that is not designed or developed with cooperation of an Indian tribe, then there shouldn't be an issue. And it sounds like that's what's going to happen with the Redskins logo.

Okay, to be fair it was a slur and I'm suprised it made it this long in THIS era lololol

On the other hand its a lot better than Washington Football Team (their placeholder name for 2021)
