Don't change it. It just didn't fit. Perhaps it was an idea that didn't come to fruition or you got tired. Leave it. It will inspire you to critically examine your work. Don't change it. "Mistakes" are what teach us. Start a new one. if these are just sketch exercises, then state that, the level of analysis will be lessened, because you are learning and taking risks.I will try and correct it soon - Thank you for your feedback
Interesting what you are suggesting with the background. This one is one you should develop. The whole thing is off balance. People tend to look at the eyes first, but the ear is the center of the piece. He's looking away from the dark background into the light or turning? My eye goes from the eye to face to the ear, suggesting he heard something. What is causing him to turn from the light or turn into the dark, which is it? It's horizontally balanced with his shoulder and shirt and the background changes suggest there is some sort of light vs dark emotion/thought. There is a left to right diagonal balance as well and all intersections horizontal and diagonal nearly center on the ear. There is a slight lower left to upper right diagonal with the shoulder line that leads you to his jawline and again back to the ear. No matter where you look at this piece you are drawn back to his ear and then look at the gradation of the background.

So don't change it. Start fresh.
I don't tend to give good adviceGlad to see that at least someone is willing to do actual constructive criticism
Its what I was hoping to get from finlay when I started experimenting with angles and perspective but he just said "looks good"
Since these are mostly just quick studies I will not critique them.
well the reason why, is because christ is trying to make art beautiful again. Which is great. And I hope that effort continues. I'm tired of brutalism and post modern art it's trite, tiresome, ugly and almost always political in nature. Most of the art now is little more than communist propaganda or anti corporation statements. Fucking boring.timspirational

The third one has is a gross mistake. Can you tell me what it is?
#2 is the closest. I'm not going to be critical about accuracy since these are quick studies. However, in piece #3 how many light sources you you count. I count three maybe four. the right temple, under his chin and his hand/fingers seem to be putting out the lumens of a dwarf star. The highlight of the hair over the hand couldn't happen. You can suggest reflected light but you have to do that very lightly.Shape of the hand?
Shape of the shadow on the face
Could be a number of things probably
That's one of the drawbacks of doing studies from studio photography I'm guessing - or I've heard it said that images with sharp shadows are bad to learn from#2 is the closest. Dunno if this was intentional or not so take it with a grain of salt. Compare it to your earlier piece I commented on. Notice there is one strong direction for light.
Dunno if you were doing this from memory, I would guess so, but study how light curves around shapes. a good exercise is sketching a ball with one light source, there are yt vids on this that can explain in detail.
It takes time. Hopefully it will help you in your development. You have skill, keep on keeping on.That's one of the drawbacks of doing studies from studio photography I'm guessing - or I've heard it said that images with sharp shadows are bad to learn from
Don't hate me, but your critiques are long-winded and only useful for beginner artists. I'm sure he knows how to light a ball. At such skill level it's mostly up to the artist to do all the learning. This isn't a good medium for teaching anyway. Consider this a critique critique.well the reason why, is because christ is trying to make art beautiful again. Which is great. There are people who say all past "great works" are political in nature, but I don't see that. A portrait is a portrait. A landscape or bouquet of flowers is just that. They are not encompassing the day to day struggles with a pollical machine.

Don't care about your attention deficiency. Observations and feed back is good for any artist no matter what level. If you actually stopped jerking off over yourself you would realize that.Im important. My mommy says so.
"Furrie art," is not art and complete garbage. Im not sorry you wasted a portion of your life creating this.
