America doesn't "need" Chinese silicon microchips to make phones. If we wanted, we could switchover to ionic transistors made into 3D processors using borosilicate glass as the substrate and fluidic interconnects or ionic diffusion-based communication instead of TSVs.

Note that the only real tradeoff is that it would be somewhat slower than silicon because ions travel slower than electrons, but overall it pwns. The only reason America has enslaved itself to China is capitalism and price fixing. Prove me wrong.
