Games you hate

Super Mario 64

I will die on this hill. And I'm not even talking about "hur dur it aged poorly" or "zoomers have no appreciation for the classics", this was shit I hated about it back when it came out in 1996. SM64 absolutely had nothing to do with this mockery of Mario's standards. These are my objective reasons, and not subjective ones like "the level designs suck".
  1. no power ups (no fire flower, no suits, a wing cap that only exists late game... the metal mario skin was cool but that was it)
  2. only like 15 levels (oooooh you can play them different ways! who gives a shit)
  3. no Yoshi (cameo doesn't count)
  4. no Luigi
  5. no multiplayer
  6. a fucking HEALTH BAR?!
  7. no world map (no, the castle doesn't count)
  8. fewer unique enemies
Very little about Super Mario 64 was an actual "Super Mario" game. It was, at best, a tech demo wearing a "Super Mario" skin. It's like a couple steps above the unfinished Sonic X-Treme game for the Saturn. I'll give it credit for having revolutionary controls that set the standard for later games (analog controls from the start, the very concept of a camera, etc) but that's it.

what do you think about mario galaxy? at the time i thought of it as just like 64 and sunshine but in retrospect i see it as sort of a hybrid between those and 3d land/world
also what do you think of mario odyssey

By the time Sunshine was out it was clear that this would be the format for Mario games, so it bothered me a lot less that Sunshine and Galaxy moved in that direction. I had a lot more fun with Galaxy too because at least it also had powerups (weird new ones like Bee Mario, but that just gave me SMB3 vibes). Plus also by then the New Super Mario Bros games had been released and that took the edge off the 3D Mario games being the ONLY Mario games available, especially in light of how 2D Mario games on the GBA were just remakes and not original games.

Odyssey was a lot more fun because of its gimmick, plus it had a ton of nods to the original games, so it was entertaining. I'm just glad that 2D and 3D Mario games exist in parallel nowadays instead of the 3D games replacing the 2D games.

Never got the hype behind Palworld, ball games like 2k and Madden, The Stanley Parable, Terraria, SM64, FNAF and most indie horror in general, like Doki Doki and every one of those shitty psychological horror RPG Maker game.

I also don't like GTA 5, Fortnite and COD, not because I don't think they're alright games, but they've just gotten boring and repetitive after a while. Also, all were completely raped by their respective companies for the dollarydoos.

GTA 4, Half-life 1 + 2, and New Vegas are good, but people hype them up way too fucking much.

all games with boss fights (at least that part of said games)
i don't understand the appeal in learning the best responses to scripted moves and out-enduring bullet sponges.

all games with grinding. words fail to describe how little understanding i have for wasting lifetime on video game filler.

in case it wasn't obvious, im not playing a lot of video games these days.
