TRON ARES

HYYYYYYPPPEEEE

I woke up to see it having literally just released. Quickest click I've ever made.

* looks like the consequences of Tron Legacy have come to fruition... but HOW??
* FLYNN LIVES
* I hope Sam Flynn and Quora make a cameo appearance in it. Surely they have to be in it, if only for a short bit just to connect everything together
* If Tron was about the rise of computers in the 1980s and Tron Legacy was about how my generation grew up with it into adulthood, I hope Tron Ares covers the longterm consequences of computers invading our lives

In unrelated/related news, they're working on a 4K remaster of Tron Legacy, but I hope the "remaster" part includes cleaning up some of the motion capture faces to be more lifelike. It was good for 2010 but it's aging like... what's between milk and wine? I tolerated it with CLU since he was supposed to be a digital character, but less so for young Kevin Flynn from the beginning.

A 4K release of the original Tron would be the chef's kiss. I'd also love to see someone today recreate the exact effect they used in the original Tron film (filming in high contrast, masking out body shapes, etc) but using modern digital processes to make composition infnitely easier.

This is what I was thinking, too. But according to Wikipedia (and we know they are never wrong) the original direct sequel was shelf along with the original actors for the sequel to Legacy.

Yet it seems the plot is the same. But technically, this could stand alone. Meaning that there needs no mention of the events of Legacy, it can be ignored like the plot of Dark Souls 2. I did of course look for the legacy actors, they were not listed in the cast, but that doesn't mean they won't be there. Flynn being alive can go both ways to either plot point.

Overall, I'm stoked.
