Omg yes this so badly. HL2 genuinely does have good environmental design but the actual plot is basically incomprehensible nonsense and the characters are all one note personalities that have little room to express themselves because Gordon doesn't speak and the enemies are aliens, so every NPC interaction is effectively the equivalent of standing next to someone while they are thinking out loud.
