Federal officials expect transportation systems will largely return to normal operations by Saturday, following a massive IT outage for Windows users that knocked out systems for transportation, delivery and health care. Airports on Friday were crowded with stranded travelers as major U.S. airlines grounded flights. Several health-care providers delayed some scheduled procedures. Emergency 911 call service was disrupted in some areas. Cybersecurity company CrowdStrike pointed to a defect in an update it had delivered for Microsoft’s Windows systems. Microsoft and CrowdStrike said the underlying problems were being fixed, but the incident underscored how a software glitch can have profound ripple effects. Businesses around the world reported issues with Microsoft Windows overnight Thursday into Friday, with users citing “blue screen of death” (BSOD) errors. At least some systems resumed functioning shortly afterward, but companies across multiple industries were affected...

Legendary fitness guru and TV star Richard Simmons has died at the age of 76. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to Simmons' home earlier on Saturday after a call from his housekeeper. ABC News report that Simmons, who revealed in March he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, died of natural causes and there is no suspicion of foul play. It comes a day after Simmons turned 76 and posted a message to fans on Facebook. His message read: 'Thank you...I never got so many messages about my birthday in my life! I am sitting here writing emails. Have a most beautiful rest of your Friday. Love, Richard'. On Friday, Simmons also revealed his fun plans to celebrate his birthday in a very rare interview. He told People: 'But the candle will probably be on a zucchini. You know, I'm a vegetarian.' Reflecting on turning 76, he added: 'I feel good! just kidding, it's some back water shit hole in MN. Officials in Blue Earth County are closely monitoring the Rapidan Dam southwest of Mankato Monday amid concerns about a potential dam failure. The county says the rain-swollen Blue Earth River has cut around the west side of the dam and there are concerns about debris in the river. Blue Earth County Sheriff Jeff Wersal described the the dam as being in “imminent failure condition.” It’s unknown whether the dam will completely fail or stay in place. Only two residents were identified in the emergency operations plan near the dam. Mankato is currently not in imminent danger of another flood, Wersal said. “You know, it’s gonna raise the water level. But for right now, our main concern is debris in the water. But it is a mess currently,” he said. Wersal says if the threat rises then the public will be notified. Xcel Energy reported nearly 600 customers were without power after flood waters washed away a substation near the dam. The...

Muzaffarnagar: He went to bed as a man but woke up as a woman. For 20-year-old Mujahid, life took a drastic turn when he was deceived into undergoing gender reassignment surgery. This was orchestrated by another man in collusion with doctors from a local medical college in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. This sensational case has sparked outrage and led to protests by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). The incident took place at Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur. Mujahid, 20 and resident of Sanjak village, alleged that he was deceived by Omprakash on June 3. Omprakash allegedly convinced the doctors at the medical college to perform surgery on Mujahid, which involved the removal of his genitals and a forced gender change. Mujahid claims that Omprakash had been threatening and harassing him for the past two years. Mujahid was falsely told that he had a medical issue requiring hospital inspection. Accompanied by Omprakash, he visited the facility where the hospital staff...

Reported birth of rare white buffalo calf in Yellowstone park fulfills Lakota prophecy HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The reported birth of a rare white buffalo in Yellowstone National Park fulfills a Lakota prophecy that portends better times, according to members of the American Indian tribe who cautioned that it’s also a signal that more must be done to protect the earth and its animals. “The birth of this calf is both a blessing and warning. We must do more,” said Chief Arvol Looking Horse, the spiritual leader of the Lakota, Dakota and the Nakota Oyate in South Dakota, and the 19th keeper of the sacred White Buffalo Calf Woman Pipe and Bundle. The birth of the sacred calf comes as after a severe winter in 2023 drove thousands of Yellowstone buffalo, also known as bison, to lower elevations. More than 1,500 were killed, sent to slaughter or transferred to tribes seeking to reclaim stewardship over an animal their ancestors lived alongside for millennia. Erin Braaten of Kalispell took...

Denmark has recalled several spicy ramen noodle products by South Korean company Samyang, claiming that the capsaicin levels in them could poison consumers. Three fiery flavours of the Samyang instant ramen line are being withdrawn: Buldak 3x Spicy & Hot Chicken, 2x Spicy & Hot Chicken and Hot Chicken Stew. Denmark's food agency issued the recall and warning on Tuesday, urging consumers to abandon the product. But the maker Samyang says there's no problem with the quality of the food. "We understand that the Danish food authority recalled the products, not because of a problem in their quality but because they were too spicy," the firm said in a statement to the BBC. "The products are being exported globally. But this is the first time they have been recalled for the above reason." It's unknown if any specific incidents in Denmark had prompted authorities there to take action. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration said it had assessed the levels of capsaicin in a single...
