book thread

I just finished this book which I first picked up when I was admitted to the psych hospital. It’s actually really good! It’s about a detective searching for compromising files and eventually shutting down a gang lord and a corrupt child-raping politician. Would recommend!

listened to chambers' in search of the unknown n am finishing up the maker of moons today
his descriptions of fishing n butterflies n the woods are amazing, a lot of his characters make art n go hiking n fishing...
as thorough as his descriptions are in his works

i have a sneaking suspicion he did a ton of fly fishing...

today in maker of moons a man coming back from trout fishing serenades a woman in her window by offering her said fish n falls in love
"she enjoys eating trout; i enjoy catching them. clearly we were designed for each other!"
can't argue with this logic. it's too charming

It's the time of the year where I'm reading Master and Margarita again.

And I'm wondering still, how in the actual fuck did this pass the Soviet Censorship machine?

The whole idea of "manusscripts don't burn", the A and B story between fictional Jesus and some of the allergories to soviet state control is INSANE.
