The Ediots bought a seed of a weird flesh eating tree from a passing caravan, and now it was growing at the area designated for corpse dumping. No need to molotov the stiffs, very convenient.

Bunch of shamblers showed up, but didn't attack. These had a 3 days decomposition timer, so I just confined the Ediots to the fort, no real need for any resources outside of the walls.

Luckily none of them had explosives and they were dispatched easily, only the newly recruited waster prisoner was injured.

I researched and made antibiotics, but didn't designate the regular interval for everyone to take them, so we had to cases of malaria

A distress call was received from a camp owned by the neanderthals, and since the cotton was harvested and armor made, decided to tame 2 alpacas for pack animals, and then sent 3 Ediots to check it out.

The Ediots arrived there, and encountered... flesh. Flesh growing like a tumor and devouring the entire settlement.

Just when they were taken out, another wave of them appeared from a nearby hole in the ground and for a moment the situation looked quite dire

A disgusting sack of flesh that seemed like it was supposed to digest and feed everything around it was blown to bits, another shard recovered from it.

Two holes that were spewing monstrosities were filled in, and not noticing anything else of interests, I sent the Ediots back to the colony. We really need to manufacture some flamethrowers.

There are 4 new Ediots. One of them is baseliner with brawler and psychopath traits, so I took the liberty of renaming him to 'Mr. Gask'. The others are yours to name:
our male genie with a new heart, a kind female waster with farming talent, and a baseliner good with animals.

The anima tree regrew, not ideal, but it's within the walls, good enough. Fort will be expanded later to accomodate it, when we drain the swampy parts

A transport pod crashed near the colony. I think it'll be a long time before we can effectively use it. Maybe store a bunch of corpses near a mechanoid cluster than fire these to create cannon fodder?

At the start of the summer, some 8-9 sightstealers appeared out of the thin air all over the place and attacked the colonists.

They were easy to deal with, only tasuviyo and j1sm got swarmed mid reload, but made it out alive

Captured one, placed him in containment. The rest ended up as the offering to the trees.

A few days later the yttakin mortar crews arrived, and i was unsure how to proceed

Mortar research was completed and reinforced barrels were bought, but we still didn't have enough materials and machinery (or power supply for it) to produce the ammo. So, this required going out and facing the problem head on. But the Ediots were scattered around the map, and by the time everyone is in position, first shells will be hitting the colony.

Decided to equip Heidi with molotovs and have him set the mortar emplacements on fire. Risky, hopefully pyrophobia doesn't fuck him up and he can retreat safely.

i did one of those once. the dude dropped a strange black spine on me, but i couldnt keep the thing contained at the time and had to destroy it.

I accepted the quest and the package was delivered to the colony. It was a corpse. Male, 21yo, sanguophage, medium build. No signs of the actual cause of death, no traces of sickness or violence. No decomposition either.

Had to get rid of the local wildlife that wanted to snack on it, though maybe I shouldn't have.

The whole thing was slowly grating on Heidi's nerves.

I was thinking where to move it but in the next moment it was gone

It turns out it teleported inside the colony. Most of the time it staid put, but any time Heidi would put some distance between himself and it, it would teleport again, to be next to him, to keep him company.

Meanwhile, the pachyderms were at it again. A manhunter pack appeared, and the Ediots were on their way to the barricades

But at the same time, the prisoners staged an escape. This is my fault, bought those medical books and neglected to pacify the prison population by having the Ediots practice amputations. Lurk, Squigur and Demonic had to go back and assert order.

This left insufficient numbers at the gates, and the Ediots found themselves overrun, but survived to crawl away from harm.

Only one of the prisoners had the sense to arm himself, but couldn't win a 3vs1. All were pacified, and after that, the rhinos were taken down.

This was deeply disturbing to Heidi and at one moment he went to destroy the other captured specimens, and killed the ghoul before he was beanbagged.

Still, most of the mechanoids losses were due to friendly fire, their armor was too thick for the shamblers. Maybe the tactic of dropping off the corpses in mech clusters and turning them into shamblers won't be as effective as I thought.

A first mechanoid cluster landed, and had a mortar and a shield that protected it from aerial bombardment. Four days until it activates and rains fire upon the colony.

Lurk mentioned we will need a lot of electricity, so geothermal energy was researched, and a first generator was built over a geyser. We now have enough power to refine chemfuel for ammo and mortar shell propellant.

With 2 days left, I decided to try to take out the mortar. Demonic smoke naded the turret, and Minto & Heidi were given AT4 shoulder fired AT weapons.

First hit did good damage, the second one took out the mortar and some of the footsoldiers. Well done, time to bounce and meet them at the gates.

But it turned out it won't be that easy. Overconfidence... I had only Heidi and minty on the barricades, but two of the mechanoids were flamethrower units, had to retreat them to safety and mobilize the rest of the colony

After the battle, I got notification that Tasuviyo bled out to death? He looked fine, but I guess that was because he was high on go juice. He was burried next to Wraffles.

a transport pod crash brouhgt a joiner, a 10yo girl suffering from temporary paralysis. I grudgingly accepted. She'll be tied to bed for the next two months, which will serously hamper her developement.
