Christ discribes an all loving God. He says that is the true nature of God. The old jews spoke of a highly judgmental, and punitive God with very little patience.

What you are taking out of context is when Christ mentions the God of Moses he was refering to Moses' devotion to God. Remember that during the 40 years Moses was trapped wandering the desert with this tribe of self-exiled jews, the jews were so fucking awful, Moses lost his shit and made the ultimate appeal to authority and came back with the 10 Commandments. So it's pretty clear that the jews were not obeying God. And God helped Moses because of his devotion and all of the acts of God were protective in nature and nurturing. This is the God Christ was speaking about. Not the bastardized version the jews now worship.
