They did a deer cull in our area in the winter and now I can only see them for a few seconds when I go out at 3 in the morning. So for the time being I can only post old deer from last year when I used to be able to get within 5 feet of them before they moved.

I think 9 months of the year here is deer culling season. You see them when they're running away in the forest sometimes.

They used professionals with suppressed rifles on public property who do it at night with winter feeding stations. Very heavily discourage for normal hunters.

Aimed for the matronly deer that are dominant first and breed out of control. The sound being suppressed mean the other deer didn't completely flee the feeder. To be fair, it was only 70 deer, which I've seen groups of 30 nesting in our neighborhood where they couldn't be accessed. So this was like maybe 2 to 5% of the population, but enough to make shock waves and promote distrust of humans again.

There used to be a rifle line where you could only hunt with bows between the northern lower peninsula and southern lower peninsula. DNR eliminated that rule just recently because of the explosion of deer population. Most of it was to prevent car crashes with deer at night.

The other thing is that the deer devour some kinds of vegetation. No way I can try a normal garden here. (Also due to woodchucks, raccoons, possum, skunks)

These used to be full bushes a few years ago.

A buck grinding it's antlers on a tree last year.

I have a video of a deer being brazen enough to get up on the deck, but it's too large a file to upload.
