for 8-bit and prior, most definitely. 16-bit and on, im not so sure and would have to actually look into it.

I think that's kind of missing the process of how music equipment is made
you kinda have to do that with synths, like for example the glitchstorm uses an algorithm that the dials are used to change and create different noises. Most make music in online editors but you gotta program those sounds if you want to make more dynamic noises.
Then again this is in theory, I haven't done any research. Just thinking logically here.
