There was a guy in my town who had a white Mitsu 3000GT rotting in his yard. It was there for a number of years, but a year or two ago it was up and gone. Perhaps Google Maps could back me up?

As a mechanic I can a hundred percent tell you that it was sold as non operating junk. Those 3000 GT's were cool until general Mitsubishi quality caught up to them. Hard to fix, easy to break, and a general nightmare to own.

a general nightmare to own
as a hobby mechanic and professional mech engineer i want to emphasize the importance of this concept especially to young people @ZZZandeRRR

it's a bit like dating an unstable goth whore girl except with more naiveté, but i assure you it will end with you being randomly filthy rich and able to afford this piece of shit out of pocket change or heartbreak. Heartbreak is infinitely more probable.

Damn straight, I think a lot of the hobby mechanic crowd and a lot of car people tend to think that a lot of these enthusiast cars like 90's JDM legends don't really stop to think about the technical questions that come with a car like this. Was it reliable even when it was new? Will I be able to get it serviced at any old shop, or will I need a specialist? What happens when the parts that are harder to find break? If more people asked these questions I feel like a lot of JDM fans wouldn't be JDM fans, I worked on one of those Supras (you know, the kind everyone wants), and the bill for everything we found wrong with it made this guy actually cry in the waiting room. Tell ya what he'll do, sell that thing and go buy a mustang instead.

i wanted an rx7 when i was younger but now i realize it'd be hell trying to find a mechanic who even knows what a rotary engine is, much less how to fix it

lol i briefly knew a mechanic guy who got himself an Impreza WRX STI. Drove it on the Autobahn when he heard a bang and the rod bearings were blown to shit. fixed it, which was a bitch with that engine. A few days later the performance repeated itself. Cursed, replaced the bearings again and sold that piece of shit as quickly as he could.

it doesn't need to be an rx7 to be a nightmare to own. In Germany, if you have too much money, owning a fairly new Porsche is not actually retarded because we have workshops who know these things and they do run very reliably. So you know, you can actually decide to take the Porsche today and enjoy the drive without worrying if you will arrive and what will break next. You don't have that with a WRX STI or Lancer Evo or any of that shit. And I say this as someone who thinks Porsches are ugly and in their mass availability also very boring. But boring at least doesn't shit the bed when you least need it. And although they look boring to me, it would be retarded to say a Porsche drives boring.

Fuck, the WRX was my dream car...

Not exactly a Porsche, but my grandpa had a 7-series BMW at one point. Sold it because the insurance was higher than giraffe tits lol

Yeah no, having driven porsches newer and older I can say with one million percent certainty that the 82 corvette I aligned and test drove was way more fun to drive.

I haven't driven any of that. The people I read and listen to saying this like to go on race tracks and actually drive their laps as fast as they can. I'm guessing that's a different application.
