A Woman Was Sentenced to 10 Years for Making False Rape Claims

27 year-old Jemma Beale from Hounslow, west London, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for making false rape accusations. She claimed was sexually assaulted by six men and raped by nine over the space of three years.

Beale was sentenced in August 2017 after being found guilty of four counts of perjury and four counts of perverting the courts of justice. Her claims cost taxpayers:

•police investigations £250,000 ($323,012.50)
•trial cost at least £109,000 ($140,833.45)
•6,400 hours of police investigating
