Apple just dropped a new iOS update - I’m unhappy about it

okay, sure by market share
linux still dominates everything else

That's what is important.

But are the various flavours actually linux? Many of them are quite different from each other.
market share is not a big metric anymore.
the internet uses linux. when basically most backhaul uses linux that's the important part.
the only reason windows has so much is because you need separate windows servers to securely do whay half as many linux can do

and obviously the other distros are linux because they use the linux kernel.

There isn’t just one unchanging linux kernel. There are many and they’re constantly morphing. Hence, linux isn’t really a single server solution that people use. It’s many different things that shouldn’t be called linux.

Linux has a tiny installed base compared to Apple’s OS’s. Hackers can’t be bothered with it.

No. For instance, android apps on the Play Store contain lots of dubious offerings that can compromise security. Apple’s app store is much more curated so that only those apps that meet elevated security requirements are allowed to exist.

a bit of a late reply, but Android has sandboxing that actually works.
Apple has had problems in every update with companies being able to own an entire iOS device, they do have sandboxing but I do not think it works like Android.
Android uses a container like system which basically sets the apps from system level manipulation (which is also what makes rooting a whole lot more difficult nowdays).
Yes, you can still hack an Android device but you can't completely own it like an iOS one. Which is also why bugbounties are picked up every single update with iOS.
