im reading them for the experience and the writing, not the plot!!! leave me alone
listened to the scarlet letter
which i briefly started reading in high school and it was so boring i couldn't focus. same sort of experience for the introduction yet again this time
everything after the introduction was fine n i found myself able to give a shit adequately
on a bit of a classic book binge so now i'm listening to where the red fern grows. that pritchard kid fuckin' deserved it
after this book, i'm starting catch-22
after that maybe some 3 musketeers or maybe i'll mainline some carl jung if i feel like hopping off the classics train

Hi, still working though Harpo Speaks!.
Just read a really fun chapter. It was 99% jokes, and then at the end he kind of hits you with a somber paragraph. The guy is a better writer than I initially gave him credit for, even if the timeline feels somewhat disjointed.
I'm being particularly autistic about this subject, so I made a Minecraft skin of the guy, and am currently reconstructing the house on the island that the aforementioned chapter is about with the help of a friend.

The Scarlet Letter is such a powerful book. It warns about a society gone mad and dropping all pretenses just when someone is forced to wear an object that makes it obvious they had did something even tho it was something that happened once. The endless suffering it causes for a one-off mistake of the past, and whether it's better to live with shame in a community that will still have you, or to move away and take the risk of life in a world unknown to you.
This is exactly the same thing as pink FOTY profile color on this forum! Are we the baddies for forcing users to have pink user profiles to atone for their sins of a younger time??

i am really enjoying catch-22
okay i finished catch-22 n it's a damn fine book. i greatly enjoy the absurdity and accuracy of the depictions of american private business and bureaucracy
will mildly consider other ww2 satires along the same vein as catch-22 and slaughterhouse 5.

i started the count of monte cristo n because it's 50 hrs i had a brief flashback t0 2 hr description of sewer in les miserables (i know it's not the same author) so i allowed myself a classic fiction pause and listened to answer to job by my man carl jung. lovely. wonderful. 8/10
