i had been mainlining a lot of old lovecraft for spooky season
after going through most of them tho, i decided to try some ghost story books so i gave "a winter haunting" by dan simmons a try. it wasn't the best written book in the world, but i do like the secondary character, who happens to also be the narrator and a ghost. at the end he takes over the main character. the idea of being possessed by a hyper intelligent 11 yr old who taught himself old english, hieroglyphics, old german and hittite... enough to be fluent in it, is neat. i like this ending.
