Book thread

Post what you last read, post your fav books everyone should read and most importantly post reviews on shitty books. @oddguy

I've stopped reading myself for a while now but everyone should have read "The stars my destination" by Alfred Bester

Hussite Trilogy by Sapkowski, well researched and written historical fiction about Hussite wars in XV century Bohemia spiced up with some medieval european folklore (think without Tolkien). Imo it's much better than the Witcher series and i might be right in this matter since Hussite Trilogy was Sapkowsky's passion project and not a cashgrab like half of Witcher books.
For now only first book in the series is translated into english, idk about the translation's quality tho because i was unable to get my hands on it but judging how they refused to keep original latin title and changed cover to some generic shit it might be a little crap. Yeah, yeah don't judge the book by the cover and shit but just compare those two

Has anyone read a book titled ‘A Fire Upon the Deep‘ by an authour named Vernor Vinge?

If so, was it any good and would you recommend the book to others?
yeah I have, I didn't like it very much. It doesn't feel very fleshed out or "real" compared with works by other authors like Bester or Peter F. Hamilton. I guess the nerds liked the book because it had Usenet?
The aliens are pretty creative though.

Familiarize yourselves with the works of German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. You may read them for free here.

I suggest you read some of his minor writings first, like his essays on religion and literature for example, before proceeding with the more heavy stuff.
