Dreams Thread

A thread for dreams after Minty reminded me there used to be one and it was something quite a few people participated in

Shitty drawing acting as a collage of recurring themes: Overcast skies with yellow light peaking through, buildings created over drydocks or surrounded by a moat on a breakwater, where usually there would be crashing waves. I see this a lot as well, sheetrock cylindrical utility closets or barracks near to the ocean. This in particular is supposed to be a restaurant I saw in one of those sorts of dreams, it was bustling with people and there was some criminal or otherwise morally objectionable element, I won't be able to remember, somewhat ubiquitous among the clients. It reminded me strongest of Porthgain or perhaps what used to be a small fishing village, now a popular tourist destination. Unlike Porthgain the coastal path to the east was turfed over and I found the whole path towards the village objectionably gentrified or just eerie, like it had abandoned a prior identity. I don't know. I didn't make the building look imposing enough, it was certainly much larger than I've made it look here and dwarfed any residences that surrounded it. I suppose that isn't much different from one of the restaurants or souvenir shops / multipurpose, I've never really known what it was for, that's actually there
Spelling and grammar error

Weedville did make a thread back in 2024 and the appropriate thing to do would've been to revive that one rather than starting a new one, but I don't think anyone anticipated even a small degree of foresight from me
Does it even exist anymore? Prolly got deleted.

do sleep paralysis hallucinations count?
Likely results from the same hallucinogen that induces dreams or something. I'd say it counts a a dream experience.
In the distant past I've had a few vivid dreams that trailed off from an apparently conscious experience of waking up and leaving the bed which concluded looking at something that's probably the closest I've been to experiencing a sleep paralysis hallucination, so in my mind they're very similar to dreams at least

i am a natural night owl n not a fan of waking up in single digits, n so back when i was just college student'ing i would always go back to bed after brief morning errand n i noticed i would get +2 on the sleep paralysis dice roll doing this. as a total asshole to myself tho i kept doing it
my "favorite" sleep paralysis episode i was laying on my back and an animal was laying on me curled up on my chest (typical "suffocation" motif) and it was the egyptian god set in animal form. as i struggled to wake up, he got up, circled around like a dog, growled at me in protest of my wanting to move, and then went back to sleep. i decided i was okay with the situation n accepted my fate...

Sounds horrible - I know not everyone has the same irrational fear that I have and can probably deal with it, but I can't imagine how to deal with any sort of recurring episodes.
I've often repositioned myself from reclining in a comfortable position if I don't think I'll fall asleep fast enough to avoid witnessing some sort of peripheral figure or anything. Mentioning specifically Egyptian Gods reminds me that over the years, maybe since conception until I was a young adult I most often saw permutations on this same caricature which always reminded me of a Wadjet eye - I'd always describe it as an Egyptian eye instead despite the seed shape
To this day eyes which are out of proportion or disembodied eyes probably provoke strange responses from me as a consequence. It's probably laughable to other people really because it seems to essentially boil down to a cartoon character of a demon and was probably derived from an impression of similar characters in media. Occasionally it would gradually project over faces or people or have more or fewer appendages, or two eyes

past a certain point, one could argue it's self-inflicted. maybe just trying to go to sleep at the wrong time to see what shows up out of the ether...
after that particular instance i made a small felt version of set n was never bothered again

you got evil eye? you need to make a charm or get you smth with more eyes on it to win the staring contest
one of these, maybe

Is there a comon theme amongst reports of sleep paralysis involving disembodied eyes or gameified staring? That sounds pretty interesting. That's a very evocative talisman also
I kind of believed until tonight that I'd done the same thing by painting one of the structures from the dream, that I'd finished processing it and the reappearance of any of the scenery I drew would be more unlikely. I suppose specifically that building is now entirely absent

Very corny and poorly protracted record of what happened in the dream, sounds like a bad creepypasta, but it'll help me remember the imagery
Once again there is a footpath bound over the mountain connecting a small village / hamlet to a Riverside causeway, slightly industrialised shopping center and residential estate with relaxed planning permissions. It differs from the Riverside Shopping Center based on the width of the River running through the middle, which is more comparable to a small lake. I'm living on the top floor of a two-story studio apartment overlooking a small amount of forestry I think, the weather maintains a beautifully warm quality of light whenever I arrive back but I'm exposed to disturbing dreams, currently mazes heading off in cardinal directions overseen by individuals wearing a Wadjat eye in darker colorful tones. It's comparable to underpass graffiti in Haverfordwest maybe in some regards, or perhaps the genre is just derived from there. All of them are semi-circular, the functionality or health of the eye are elaborated on in the character's design I suppose, some seem to have high capillary activity or are just red all over for some other reason, and they seem to appear bridged over the arching paths. I crash into the wall a couple of times to see what happens, and I feel a presence burning it's way into my back, but turning around reveals no one is there. There's one wall fixture the only shape most comparable to an easel height adjustment mechanism that I stare at while the intensity of the register of a presence looming over me either fades away or stops becoming relevant, and I maybe stop becoming involved in whatever the orienteering video game was before the dream ends
The dream's mostly pleasant until the end when I start thinking about the ubiquitous presence of creatures like that which used to be in my dreams. I spend an equal amount of time in the back of the car with a parent / two parents or some authority fire travelling to and from the shopping centre or surveying after having walked a stretch of the footpath - both narratives seem to interlace or overlap

I remember now that it's almost invariably something I seem to have some autonomy over, and if I don't allow myself to contemplate a memory of something similar that used to be in a dream then I'm not willing the kind of presence into it. Then there's usually results in a foregone conclusion to whatever else was hsppening. It's almost always the end of a dream when I witness one of the eye creatures

lots of general themes of suffocation, shadow people staring at you while you sleep, etc. nothing particularly disembodied eyeball related off the top of my head tho.

maybe you should art out more of it? i am generally of the belief that whatever/whenever your subconscious shows you in these other places, especially if its not a one-off but done repeatedly, it's for a reason

as an aside, your descriptions of them remind me of
perhaps the subconscious yearns for the residents

Subterraenean gardening centre. Each plot seems to have its own thermostat, safe, memorial plaque. Raised beds with precisely intefaced blocks. The lode bearing walls are painted white. There's a lot of exotic plants as well as mundane ones, it seems like. Most of them seem dehydrated and the loamy soil looks like a beige, clumpy powder. I spray some of the plots ineffectively with a half-empty spray bottle. I ask one of the park stuards whether there's some sort of humidity soil sensor because there seems to be no expense spared to such things around the raised beds, and they don't think there is
There's a short science fiction dystopian text adventure in a square alcove to the right side of a corridor lined with white ceramic tiles I think. Most people who sit near the console screen do not think much of the various endings to the stories, which seem arbitrary based on where you go, but the ambiguity of one particular ending to be a disturbing premise in which the alien race punishes the explore with "3500 million in purgnasium", the word was somehow better but I can't remember what it was. Years weren't specified, the graphic attached to the ending was a burly cyclops with pale green skin, somehow surviving suitless in the orbit of a ringed gas giant while balancing on the bulkhead of a ship. I remember contemplating perhaps some sort of hell or other fate that the 3500 million purgnasium was supposed to represent while a shallow and dissonant electronic hum played
Pretty boring dream

My recurring dream these days is having a full schedule of classes to a school, those classes being something that won't help me in the job field I'm in, not being able to find my locker, not being able to find my car, not being able to find my way around school, not being able to get out of the school, and having to traverse back and forth and stumble into classes that I didn't belong in.

You can replace that one with the "lost tower" dreams that I've been having which is basically the same concept only I'm in comically large tower that has multiple stages of elevators and not being able to find my way around, getting locked out of areas, taking stairs over and over again, and generally panicking because I can't find my way out.

I'm sure these have some real life reason to be recurring.

I've also had the "one more time around" with a dead person or animal where I point blank ask if I'm dreaming, have a generally good time, then wake up to realize that, "yes I was dreaming, this sucks".

I used to have vivid dreams, at one point I had very bad insomnia periods.

I however, have DID so my memory is always fuzzy when it comes to things like dreaming or recalling things at all.
One specific dream I remember is being able to watch myself from upside down after I had OD'd way too hard on some drugs, and being able to go through inanimate objects and such
