75-100kg is the average weight for a boar, so i would put that as the definition of medium.

on another note we have a whole ass hunting thread for this kinda of stuff and we still do it in the Aussie thread
maybe in Oz. The wild pigs here can get upto 800 lbs average is 200-300. That's only about 4-6 months old.
 
There were literally early 20th century airguns made to hunt/defend against polar bears for Arctic expeditions.
I've read in the 17th and earlier 19th century people used .50 calibre air guns to hunt boar and deer. I can't imagine they were that good unless you aimed for the brainstem from behind the animal's head or at heart from the front of it's chest.
