Film recs

i remember watching a movie called a movie called Society (1989) a couple years ago from tab's piracy thread
only watched it once but i remember that the plot was interesting, and the body horror was pretty good
i would recommend it but i only remember the basic plot

When someone doesn't display a prejudice towards a format something is presented in that's a good thing I think. Just to embrace whatever format a theatrical or dramatic element can exist within and see what strange conclusions are met by the audience surely that's a constructive thing

would also greatly recommend They Live by John Carpenter
always on brand, and the back alley fight scene alone in the film makes it worth it. the injuries look real, the fighting looks tiring, it's well-choreographed, and is a work of art in itself

Watched Citizen Kane because it gets touted as being an achievement in cinema.
But to me it was just another movie, yet it was technically impressive for its time with a lot of difficult shots. It was also controversial for its time because some news tycoon thought the movie was about him.

It inspired me to watch these two gangster and thriller flicks which I enjoyed more.
The first features a psychopatic manlet gangster who wreaks havoc and becomes a fugitive.
The second has a detective with quick wits turning things 180 in a funny way with hilarious quips.
