but come to think of it, there is something to what you said... is it me, or is nationalist pride often in reverse proportion to national accomplishments?View attachment 31759
... add India/Sub Saharan Africa to the question. Would anyone here agree that "we are not perfect, but at least we poo in the loo" or "we are not perfect but at least we don't infect newborn with aids"? Also France 36, Italy 47... I've had it with the liberal "All cultures are equal". Also to your statement, would you say Greece as a nation hasn't contributed to the world?

Hm, difficult question. Ancient Greece or modern Greece? Can it be considered the same? How long after the zenith can one still rest on his laurels?

But I'd say yes, if anyone, then they have the right. You mentioned Indians and Sub Saharans, they also had kingdoms and glory days in ancient times, no? Bulgarians now aren't much, but they used to be chief rivals to Byzantines, and first Slavs to create an empire. But let's say Albanians as an example, they have national pride. Apparently they are the oldest inhabitants of the Balkans. And in that time, they watched Greeks rise, Rome come and go, Byzantium, Bulgars come and create an empire. And what did they do? Not much compared to others, yet are still prouder than some American whose people planted a flag on the fucking moon.

Seems to be a permanent feature.

Kingdom = ruled by a dynasty (usually of inbreeds), nothing really special, the question is what is built/created/invented during it. Are you intentionally dodging the question (the "culture" of public defecation vs non public defecation)? Albanians are muslims, for them not eating pork is enough to look down on the rest. Also Albanians aren't the oldest inhabitants of the Balkans.

Are you intentionally dodging the question
You asked if I think Greece contributed to the world, I said yes. As for other, I don't give a fuck. Someone, somewhere far away is doing fucked up shit? Sucks for them. Rightwingers will gloat about it, leftwingers will deny it, and me? I don't fucking think about it. It means nothing to me. I don't have a need to feel superior to anyone, but if I did, I would aim higher than 80IQ rapists. How badly do I have to be doing for that shit to be my consolation?

... if that someone can come by a plane and demand his culture to be treated as equal it will mean something.
