How do I understand scot and brit English?

Ok so I wanna read Trainsspotting by Irvine Welsh and The Color of Magic by Terry Prachett but I fucking can't get 10 pages in cuz it's in fucking PAL English.

Does anyone else know how am I supposed to read this shit??? Does anyone like, have a guide or whatever?
 
are you some kind of sperg or just completely retarded? google the words you can't understand, or read on e-book reader that has dictionary built in, i know it may be hard for someone who has been spoonfed translated media for all of their life but that's how you learn new languages or dialects.

But damn, did you like that mediocre movie that much? Well in that case you should try getting an annotated version of the book. Many of the slang words are related to stuff that goes on in that particular place and based on the inner dynamics of the society those characters inhabit.

For even more of a challenge, try reading Burgess' "A Clockwork Orange" where the writer essentially created a whole new kind of slang by mixing British English with Russian. That kind of artificial language is even harder to decipher than the one you're struggling with in "Trainspotting", which sort of developped on its own in a more natural way. So hang in there and you will get a feel for it eventually. Probably.

if you have problem with "word" merry in the middle of a sentence then i wouldn't recommend reading Tolkien, you'll be shitting bricks every few pages over "queer" used in the original context
