I'm not German. My grandfather spoke German (I don't), but he was also racist and hated jews. He and his family had to flee Stalin's forces sometime in the 1940s (I can't remember when), mainly because my great-grandfather owned a store (I can't remember what kind of store) in Latvia and was on some sort of "wanted list" by the Soviets.
