went out to the coop last night n cleo is broody...

went out to close the coop tonight n bloop only had pingu with her and all the chickens were in the small coop... dagoth was passed by the door of the big coop with peck marks around the face n i guess they were scared to pass his corpse?
how can they kill a god?
i buried him in the iris bed
they do this tho. little rooster babies get bullied n there is enough boy outside one of the older ones probably dealt with him. and goldberry went broody today too...
bonus big boy

he can stay cuz he's very non-aggressive for now. he just hangs out with his full-size hoes n looks pretty. perfect gentleman

yeh this loss kinda sucks. there's a looooooooooot of yellow in the backyard n it would've been nice to have the variety. enough of his adult feathers had come in that he would've been all black
he would've looked so cool :(

alas, due to chicken racism there is no bbc in the backyard :tear:

okay i had to go to work cuz i can't call my boss n say "i suspect my head rooster is killing children because he lacks the full-blooded noble lineage of his cochin father and his mother's race is brutal savage child killers" but to fully break this down:
neo-goober: gone
dagoth: gone
hastur: being "looked over" by a child predator who was flaring his neck feathers out on day 1. i have no idea if this child's gonna be alive when i get home
ALL the cochin hens were still in the coop when i left. all of them. including hastur's mom.

why is game of thrones in my backyard

needless to say, but i have spent the last two afternoons out in the backyard keeping an eye on things
i am not sure why, but hastur's mom has like, lost all maternal instinct toward her child so he's getting bullied in the coop at night

little man ran straight to the doorway n into my arms this evening as i was chastizing the older chickens for their hostility

y'all he curled up in my hair like little buddy used to, n fell asleep in my arms

i would fight to the death for this chicken
this is my son now
he's downstairs, safe from the harsh reality of the pecking order

sooooo truuuueee bestie

anyway i didn't kill this one. like any flock animal that gets separated from the rest while not injured, he bolted out when i came inside from opening the coop doors yesterday to go back with the rest. i tried to bring him back inside, but the inter-species language barrier didn't help n he ran back outside. i told horus if anything happened to him while i was at work i was necking his ass.
so the bay harbor boy killer struck again, n for the last time

i should've put his ass down when i first saw him flarin' them neck feathers out, but not coming home to missing chickens after haulin' 120 packages was nice n apart from 3 dead baby roos this week he wasn't bad.
that being said i don't think i'm getting old english games ever again. i loved little buddy dearly and watching bandit jumpkick the shit out of hens 4 times her size was always amusing, but as a whole their breed... might as well leave a pitbull in charge of a daycare for all their neurotic behavior towards new hatches

the coop is now being ran by god's most autistic chicken lineage

no boy-fighting this morning, just peace

this will have to be temporary, as every bit of research i've read says a frizzle breeding with another frizzle results in severe heart defects
