Funny story, growing up my father was a really cranky bastard, called the local news station just to lay into some intern about how much they sucked.
Anyway, he would frequently use the term pollock in reference to someone of low intelligence. It wasn't until I was ten, and used the phrase as a substitute for "retard" in front of my sister's boyfriend of Eastern European descent, that I learned it was an ethnic slur.
