SVG Files Blocked

I'd like to upload some flags in SVG format, but I get this message whenever I try to:
".svg" is not a permitted file type.
I understand XSS is a concern, but even if you don't want to go through the trouble of setting up an SVG sanitizer, there are ways of mitigating the risk:

Vector images.
Why though?
You can scale them to any size you want without any problem. With raster images, you often end up a file that's either too small or too big for a given place.
For example, Canada's article has tiny flags in the lead, which can't be zoomed into with any useful result. Were they SVGs, there'd be no issues with arbitrarily small image sizes.

I'm perfectly aware what a vector image is.
Explain in 20 words or less why a mostly dead satirical wiki needs higher quality flags.

For archival, if nothing else. If ED is dead, use it as a resource for lulz past, preserved in vector.
Perfectly achievable with the current raster formats, if anyone could be fucking arsed to do proper backups. A non-backed up vector image is equally as gone as a non-backed up raster image.

SVGs tend to be significantly smaller than comparable raster files. Besides, a 120x80px image can't be blown up to cover a wall in the museums of the future.
That is correct for images that are suitable for vectorisation.
But that would require that somebody who is competent, willing and trusted could be persuaded to convert said images, said images would have to be locked down and sanitising measures would need to be in place.
On a dead wiki, that gets knocked offline regularly because the admins Google "cheapest domain registrar 4 I have no monies" and keep their fingers crossed.

I'm willing and (mostly) competent, how could I go about becoming trusted?
