With inflation trending down, the prices would remain about the same.

Plus, I gather Trump is betting on companies moving manufacturing back to the US to avoid the tariffs. Which means finally there will be employment for all those illegals let into the country. And thus, the can is kicked down the road.

few people had them because they were restricted to people with "excellent credit" or whatever, and few businesses accepted
cards because of the high cost of processing them in the days before the internet

then Reagan got in there and with the connivance of congress (including some democrats, this is a bipartisan trick)
interest limits were raised---in the 90s some banks tried to charge 50% interest to young people with their first card

card rates bottomed out during the obama years, believe it or not, then started to rise under trump and kept rising under biden

and now americans owe a record credit card debt of like $1 trillion plus
but the banks are smiling, the ultimate social parasites

remember, every banker wants to be a legally-permitted loan shark and break legs

(that's nothing, you should see what they charge businesses for card handling fees)
