oh, played it? don't remember his death, just that it wasn't like irl, where he lost a duel to some Brit navy officer. who was this chad, who stepped up to a beast of a man with burning fuses in his beard?
it was ages ago, there was no 6 days of full time wagie n no chicken drama. there was free time then...

it was overly dramatic n had sappy music n slowed time, with romanticized speech abt freedom or smth, kinda like braveheart

listen to them anyway, i was addicted to them at the time, walking down the street, singing "Johnny Bocker", Chinese people around me probably thinking i'm not right in the head. and you can't really hear them in game unless you collect them, and i don't give a fuck about collectibles, so i'd miss out if it weren't for YouTube. hell, wouldn't have played the game if i didn't first hear those, that was the bait. it's the only AC game i played

Oh! Do me Johnny Boker,
Come rock and roll me over,
Do me Johnny Boker, do!

Oh! Do me Johnny Boker,
The skipper is a rover,
Do me Johnny Boker, do!

Oh, do me Johnny Boker,
The first mate's never sober,
Do me Johnny Boker, do!

Oh! Do me Johnny Boker,
The Bosun is a tailor,
Do me Johnny Boker, do!

did i tell ya, that historicly, the templars pwnd the hashishin? a son of a crusader that was close to the order got assassinated, templars got angry, rode to their hq, kicked down the doors, put swords to their necks, and forced them to pay protection money (don't remember, think it was 5000gp every year). the assassins tried to seek help from the crusader noble that hated the templars (they refused to break the peace treaty and help him assault Cairo, if i remember well, so he hanged bunch of their CO's on the Jerusalem walls), but the assassin emisary that was sent to him got ambushed by unknown assailants and cut to pieces

anyway, i appreciate these guys, because they remain... heroic, just like Zapata remains heroic, unlike most historical figures. they weren't just proto-bankers/religious fanatics, they were the most fanatical zealots and, somehow, at the same time, the first Euros to discover tolerance, and restore the order and discipline of the Roman legions in the west (Bysanthium excluded). when the legions marched off to sunset, many from their ranks joined monastic orders, and influenced the rules of daily monastic life, and in the end this circled back to st. Bernard of Clairvaux who wrote the Rule of the knights templar, the people who were in many sources praised as the only part of the crusader forces advancing like a real army, and not a plundering mob. i remember an account by this Arab, an adviser to Saladin, visiting the templars. he starts with ".. i visited my friends (sic!), the templars...". he then proceeds to recount how the knights vacated a room of Christians, just to give him a place where he could pray in privacy, and intervened twice when som FOB crusader barged in and tried to harass him. "sorry 'bout the new guy". that's the thing, they were stationed there and actually lived among the Arabs, unlike the rest of those weekend crusaders, who were... tourists
