Not really, from what I can tell it used to be developers really stained their creative energy to make a game, and it showed; but now they just take queues from this or that live streamer with 10 million subs on youtube, and make progressively base line shitty games. To your point, it's a phenomenon called "woke capital" and it's just cashing in on nothing people, who support an ideological agenda no matter what, or maybe cow-towing to them so they leave your brand alone. Their profits go way down every time but they keep shitting along...

if by "religious right" you mean the crusades or the inquisitions. iirc, during the inquisitions the burning and looting was done by a dominant religious sect that punished those that failed to display the right virtue signalling at the time.
