Would you consider your personal situation better or worse than five years ago?

I just ran into a bunch of people that used to think they were so much cooler and better than me. They always did seem to have it all together on the outside though.

Well, tonight the tables were turned and I was the one that had a bright future, and theirs were all completely in the crapper and going downhill.

Also alot of them I could tell felt like they had made some grave mistakes the past few years.
Like voluntarily getting the vaccine.
Or unironicly voting for biden because of peer pressure.

It feels good to be on top.
I had to see it myself in person to get the full scope of things.

It's amazing what sobriety, and faith in Jesus christ can do for your life in such a short time.

why would i be happy because someone else misfortune? that sounds heathen as hell

That's a good point, and I for sure agree that would be looser behavior.
To be happy about truly misfortune things happening to someone.

I'm sorry I left some context out.
They are all doing just fine, financially stable and everything.
They are just not assholes to me anymore and humbled a bit.
And have a different attitude towards me.
Idk maybe it's me that changed, and the sobriety and self improvement have paid off.

I'm going to continue to hang out with them.
Things change so much over time.
And people change dramatically throughout their lives.

That had to be a major life event for you brother.

Anything that involves almost dying puts everything in perspective.
It was and I still remember i almost drowned in a public pool when i did i thought that Was it i couldnt breathe and everything was blurry but i could see somewhat

that sounds heathen as hell
my ppl don't claim him

i am not worse off, nor better
everything is a trade off. i went from part-time to full-time, was able to fund a small farm with chickens, and have more financial security from being full-time
the trade off is a couple members of my family and some co-workers who would have gone full-time before me died, and i had to drop out of grad school
i still want my doctorate, but it can wait

I would say worse however i once almost drowned but i did survive

Thanks for that clarification. We might of thought you drowned and didn't survive.
