Iran has hit every single US base in the region and either crippled it or rendered it unusable in the foreseeable future. Without airpower, US forces, (the jews already have said "they have accomplished their mission, so the US is on its own) will be at a massive disadvantage. What Iran is doing is forcing a ground war. To get troops into Iran, we would have to cross through Iraq, launch out of Turkey, or land on the southern coast.
The topography of Iran favors the defenders if the invasion is to be from the north or west. The mountain ranges would naturally funnel forces into the plains which would make vehicles very susceptible to fire.
The amphibious landing would have to be massive. But also Somali pirates could very well interfere with such operations, and have some moderate success. Supposedly Yemen has Chinese antiship missiles, and we're definitely not their faves due to our support of the Saudi's anemic attempts to subdue radical factions within Yemen. So the landing itself would hardly be a suprise.
It would be a tough nut to crack, it could be done, but with the antiwar sentiment as high as it is, this changes things drastically.
In my estimation, the US, since the jews have already heroically ran away, would have to increase the size of it's military two fold. Currently it stands at about 1.3 million. A safer and more probable number for effectiveness would be four-fold. 5.5 million. Which means, most likely draft. Then they'll have to train for about a year for amphibious assaults and airborne operations, which is a highly risky and complex operation. To make matters worse, the US doesn't have enough cargo planes available to conduct such an operation.
Which means ultimately, the US once again, at israel's behest, has screwed the pooch. With the wars getting longer and longer, I suspect that the Iran war could last 25 years perhaps longer, since the MIC no longer wants to win wars (you can't make any real money on a short war -- Vietnam 10 years, Iraq 17 years, Afghanistan 19 years.)
Lastly, I suspect the timing of the Afgan/Paki war. Is this artificial to keep the Afghans from sending their fighters to once again face the US? The Yemenis would have no restrictions on sending their militias to bulk up the Iranian forces, unless someone bogs them down in a fight, possibly SA since they have a history of "fighting" them before.
