I've been playing Pokémon since Red/Blue and I honestly like simple gameplay (just got as far as I cared to in Hollow Knight and that was a chore) so I'm a bit biased when I say it's pretty fun.

The haters are just Gen Z kids who grew up with Pokémon but noticed that the games didn't grow up with them. But the games have always been simple fun (and also janky). That's honestly what I enjoy about them.
