What the fuck. Netflix acquiring Warner Bros (82.7 billion) was more costly than the US acquiring Alaska (1.6 billion in the current year of our lord 2026).

& they want it back now, for free, or something.............
Russian officials and state-affiliated figures have periodically made statements suggesting Alaska should be returned to Russia, though these remarks are often rhetorical or provocative rather than official policy. In 2022, Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of Russia’s State Duma, threatened to “claim back” Alaska if the U.S. seized Russian assets over the Ukraine war, framing it as retaliation.

Pro-Kremlin voices have echoed this sentiment. Analysts like Vladimir Solovyov and Dmitry Medvedev have publicly called for Alaska’s return, with Medvedev joking that war would be “unavoidable” if it wasn’t returned. These comments intensified after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, drawing comparisons to historical territorial claims.

The U.S. government and Alaskan leaders have dismissed such demands. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy responded with, “Good luck with that,” emphasizing the state’s armed population and military presence. The State Department has also stated clearly that Alaska is not returning to Russia.

Historically, Russia sold Alaska to the U.S. in 1867 for $7.2 million, a transaction known as the Alaska Purchase. While some Russian nationalists view the sale as a mistake, President Vladimir Putin himself has downplayed the idea, calling Alaska too cold and noting the sale was long ago. There is no indication of a serious diplomatic effort by Russia to reclaim the territory.

before tuberculosis was discovered to be a bacteria, it was heavily romanticized prominently in the victorian era: pale skin, flushed cheeks (to emulate fever) thin bodies, languid appearance, n some would even dilate their pupils with belladonna
consumptive chic by carolyn day is also a good read
Queen Elizabeth I used lead and mercury as makeup. Turns out it didn't help her skin.

Russia almost sold it to Lichtenstein.

Tl;dr How did Russia lose Alaska? Crimean war bankrupted them, friendly relations with Lichtenstein's monarchy who had a lot of gold, desperately not wanting Alaska to go to Canada (Britain with extra steps and the whole Great Game of the 1800's)

Then there's this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_War_(1859)
US and Britain almost got into a war over the shooting of a pig on a disputed island because a British pig ate the potatoes of an American farmer.

Ain’t gonna happen. Ever.

However, the US should look into grabbing British Columbia. It would connect Alaska with the continental US. The retarded Canuckistanis haven’t done anything useful with the place and instead have allowed it to be filled with filthy Streetsh**ters and Chinks. Donald J. Trump would clean the place up.
