how long of a reply do you want?

i have been bitten by a dog. every carrier i know has been bitten by a dog. it happens to all of us eventually
there are dogs that run out and bite my tires while i'm driving while the owner is on the porch scrolling on their phone. every. fucking. day.
p.o. policy is "don't deliver a package if there's a dog" (because p.o. doesn't wanna pay a dime for workman's comp so basically if you get bit, struck by lightning, mauled by wolves, in a car accident, etc it's your fault, no matter what) but if that were the case nobody would ever get their stuff. and if someone complains you get told to carry the package back out unless you have proof there was a dog n then it's a back n forth between the carrier n the person who owns the dog about how their dog is a precious baby angel who pulled a toddler out of a housefire so its easier to put the package on the porch if the dog isn't actively being a douche.
a carrier died being mauled by dogs a while back. i could go on n on abt misbehaving mutts
tl;dr "the dog is just doing its job" is a cope for the situation we are forced to be in daily
