  • I think I've developed full-on sociopathy in the last 24 hours
I can feel the thirty-something polycule fat energy dripping from my brain, something's even wrong with this sentence
Unfortunately I can't kill myself without ramping up and there's no ramp
not sure if i've already shown you this before (probably) but if not this seems exactly the type of stuff you would like
my personal favorite avant-prog album, also has Bratko Bibic from Begnagrad. Quite emotional prog with a melancholic/sad vibe.

yeah the Osvaldas Balakauskas one is very minimal, complex, and strange. its like orchestra music in a dream. it kind of feels offputting how minimal yet complex it all is. i kinda like it. feels meandering in a good way.

this heat has stuff going on that doesn't always really work. the vocals are aggravating and I'm only a minute in. feels meandering in a bad way. i kinda like the 'unfinished demo' part as you put it, but it feels truly aimless. possibly another overrated prog band but i'll have to listen to more.

Crude incorporation of lowercase - In case people take extreme offense to the music, wouldn't be the most difficult thing in the world to do, they backload or frontload their songs with sparse tapeloops as a respite from the later or earlier intensity. As a concept I'm not sure I buy into lowercase because you can just turn the music off. The A-side of their EP Health and Efficiency did the same thing. They had no commercial incentive to pad out the record, I imagine it might just be where they left the space they felt the idea warranted if they could get around to figuring out what to do with it

I agree that the vocals can be off-putting, the Croydon Bullingdon brigade I guess isn't the sort of person you want to hear singing, it especially isn't someone you want to hear singing about their anxieties regarding a potential nuclear holocaust. I think one of the things I like about Nimal so far is you can very easily tell what headspace the musicians were in, isn't really necessary for them to verbalize anything to get it across even in a cryptic and roundabout way

I don't know too much about that but I've heard it said also. More often that they're a lolicon, which by the definition of many people might entail the same behaviour anyway. I hope it isn't true

i heard it was more straight up grooming children on discord, but i only read it once on rate your music so it may be wrong
About that VGA Host guy that you pinged me in the shoutbox for
I thought it was really interesting. I really like IDM paired with Glitch just for how alien it sounds. I like how I dont really know how it's made, but with this album I know that at least some of it was programed. I also like how all over the place it is.

Kinda just happens that I really like the genre. I'm a big fan of Autechre so this certainly fits the bill.

I'm glad it was an enjoyable listen
I think a fair amount of it was programmed in a tracker program that doesn't use samples, MDtracker is the only one I know the name of, and rendered and exported like you say with the render edited in a DAW

Yeah I did more digging and it turns out it's the only album done by the people who did it.
Only released via digital file by an online label, was forgotten on hard drives until two years ago.

    Pretty fascinating stuff.
And I will check out the whole tracker music thing, I heard that there's a big artist that simular to the b side of the album.

Been listening to it for the past 5 days or so and It might just be my favourite IDM album. I did a review on spunikmusic if you wanna know my full feelings on it.

Furry Lawnmower is the track that's always stuck in my head now

I downloaded 1tracker and I like it. I might do a tracker music album with something else along alongside it, maybe clean bass. Live preformence is important to me so I want to tie it to that somehow. Made my first real track but I'm figuring out the process of turning .scl files into audio files. It's done somehow, im sure.

i'm bored. so, i will exaplain some more n tell a brief story for anyone who wants to read it.
it's an acoustics thing between string and body size of the instrument and ties back to that "fullness" of sound i previously mentioned.
the viola has larger strings and thus produces a slightly deeper and richer tone than the violin.
i started off playing viola, my father (when i did meet him) bought it for me when i was in 5th grade at a pawn shop as my mother was too poor to buy an instrument.
i had originally wanted to play violin, and when i realized at the end of 6th grade that if i just bought an e string and shifted the other strings over it would have the same string layout as a violin, i did so.

later, when my mom bought me a proper violin, and my father had left my life entirely, i tried to sell the viola he had bought for me. it was a newspaper ad asking for a violin. i dialed the phone number and they said their son was just starting playing and they were looking for a 3/4 size genuine stradivarius. as i was a poor, it was a replica and not genuine and they wealth-splained to me they were not interested and hung up. as an ignorant kid wanting to make a sale, i lacked the fortitude at the time to explain to them that their child would in all probability grow into a full-size violin, and that buying a size he will not need in 2/3 years is fucking stupid.

i say all that to reiterate there is a difference between poor n wealth in the music community and it is pervasive in a variety of ways. poverty being the mother of innovation i altered my own instrument as a 10 year old and would play music from violin class on my keyboard, going between d major and c and teaching myself cello in the music room after school. but bougie kids gets a leg up in quality by having rich parents who can afford whatever instrument and a music tutor right out the gate.
