i've really been re-discovering the joy of some rob zombie lately, tbh...
for years n years i always sorta had to be in the mood for one of his films n even back then "why are you remaking halloween?"
n now everything's through the looking glass n tbh
a film maker that:
doesn't have 50 bajillion sexual assault allegations
doesn't have a foot fetish/unsafe stunt history
has an aesthetic vision for his reboots (what if texas chainsaw, but with a clown and [borat voice] MAI WAIF? also, what if halloween, starring MAI WAIF?)
and likewise, she also doesn't star in anything he doesn't make
they genuinely seem to like each other...
they're just genuinely wholesome together n not shitty. i dig it n it's grown on me

I have seen The Empty Man. It is not a horrible film. It’s one of those movies that has some interesting ideas, but it is unable to properly develop them.
The film is disjointed and it isn’t sure about where it wants to go. There are 3 plots in the movie and they don’t get tied up at the end.
However, the beginning of the film is quite enthralling and the middle is above average fare. The technical aspects are solid - camera work, lighting, and very good sound design. SFX were surprisingly admirable.
Quence’s Rating: 6.7 Trumps out of 10 Trumps

it's not bad but it's not my favorite satanic panic sort of movie. think that's still hereditary since they picked an actual demon n used the sigil n such. they just got the lore too right on that one.

Yep, Hereditary is awesome, very charged with connected psychological themes, clever movie... tho I found slightly comical the naked cultist at the end

Still probably deserving of a watch, but don't expect much coherence
Also, loved The Color Out of Space, including ole Nicolas
And a huge disappointment was The Void, cause I heard it was awesome... and turned out to be quite the turd
