WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) – The 25-year-old man wanted in the shooting death of a 5-year-old boy Sunday in Wilson has been captured.
Darius N. Sessoms of Wilson was named a suspect in the killing immediately following the death of Cannon Hinnant, Wilson police said.
Sessoms was captured Monday at a residence in Goldsboro. The Wilson Police Department thanked the U.S. Marshals, Goldsboro police, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Sessoms was charged with first-degree murder and received no bond.
The incident was reported just after 5:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of Archers Road, which is in the northern part of the city, according to police.''
Family members said Cannon was riding his bicycle when he was shot and killed along Archers Road on Sunday.
Officers arrived to find Hinnant suffering from a gunshot wound.
EMS workers and police began “performing lifesaving efforts” at the scene, police said.
Hinnant was taken to Wilson Medical Center but later died, police said.
“The Wilson Police Department sends its sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of Cannon during this tragic time,” the Department said in a release Monday morning.'

Zamar Jones, who was caught in the crossfire when shots erupted outside his West Philadelphia home was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. Monday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The youngster had been fighting for his life at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia since the 7:40 p.m. shooting Saturday when more than a dozen shots rang out in an exchange of gunfire between three men, according to authorities.
The boy was sitting next to his toy race car and a scooter when he was struck by gunfire.
A nurse who lives in the neighborhood performed CPR on the boy until police arrived and he was rushed to the hospital.
One of the suspects, Christopher Linder, 27, was arrested and arraigned Monday on attempted murder and aggravated assault charges — but is expected to be charged with murder, prosecutors told the Inquirer.
Philadelphia police have not determined a motive for the shooting and are still looking for the two other suspects, the outlet said.

The shooting happened just outside of The Frog Hop, where a memorial for the 2-year-old, Raelynn Elise Craig, now sits.
Family of the victim visited the memorial Monday to leave signs among all the teddy bears and candles. Kennedy Sollars said their family is heartbroken about Raelynn.
“She was an angel. She was so smart, I always thought she was so smart,” Sollars said. “She was always a fighter. She was born premature and she beat the odds and she was here.”
Sollars reminisced on her young son’s relationship with Raelynn and all their memories together.
“We were pregnant at the same time with Rae and Hudson … it was his first love — that was his first girlfriend. It’s just heartbreaking,” Sollars said.
It was a very emotional visit to Raelynn’s memorial for Sollars. But, all she and her family wanted to share is the need for gun violence in the community to end.
“People need to stop playing around with these guns out here and thinking they’re cool,” Sollars said. “Babies are getting killed. She had her whole life ahead of her. Her mom’s never gonna be able to wake up and hold her baby again. That was her only child.”

Police officers received a call of a shooting-in-progress just after 6 p.m. tonight.
According to witnesses at the scene, two separate vehicles traveling eastbound on Walzem Road took direct hits from the gunfire.
San Antonio police stated, the shooting possibly came from the Long John Silvers parking lot.
One of the cars had seven children and one adult, an 11-year-old child was shot and was immediately transferred to SAMC in critical condition.

“Me and my children’s lives are not going back to normal,” JoJo ’s mother, Ronnica Taylor, was quoted by the newspaper as saying Thursday. “It’s really hard every day knowing she’s gone.”
Taylor, who also has a 4-year-old daughter and 5-week-old son, added that the eldest child is still processing the shooting and thinks “her sister’s coming back.”
