It was better than this, but it was also America when the internet was coming out. Netscape which isnt really around any day was one of the first browsers. I use to use it. Didnt have the patriot act, not as many endless wars, but the did shit like invade panama in 92.

watch the old sitcoms like step by step(SF/NYC) and roseanne/married with children(flyover country) and you'll get a rough idea. entertainment industry was marginally better, games were just starting to break out (16-bit/32-bit eras), there were counter-cultures such as goth and scenes. everything was cheaper, you could get a tank of gas on $20 and a pack of gum for... idunno, 50 cents i guess. weed was something you could only smoke if you were cool enough to know a guy who knows a guy or had a 'medical condition' and lived in california.

imo; social media ruined everything. now we just have an ugly gelatinous brown slurry of shit and piss and politics and mental illnesses....
