Cat Detained for Smuggling Drugs Escapes Sri Lankan Prison
Cats are known for being sneaky and mysterious, but one feline has taken these stereotypical traits to a whole new level.

A cat in Sri Lanka escaped prison after being found with two grams of heroin, two SIM cards, and a memory chip hidden in a plastic bag tied to its collar, the Daily Beast reports, citing local newspapers.

The drug-smuggling cat was likely trained by the same traffickers implicated in a recent case involving an eagle that was found transporting drugs in a suburb of Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo.

Police detained the cat after discovering the drugs, hoping it would lead them to the human drug smugglers but the animal got out of its holding room and escaped the prison through a fence when prison guards came to feed it, according to the Daily Beast. Police are not searching for the cat following its escape.

Twitter users hilariously reacted to the news of the cat’s escape, photoshopping felines onto various TV posters, including Prison Break and Narcos.

Police arrest 17 after raiding largest cocaine factory ever found in Netherlands

Police have arrested 17 people after raiding what is thought to be the largest cocaine factory ever found in the Netherlands.
About 100kg of crack cocaine and tens of thousands of litres of chemicals were discovered when detectives raided a former horse riding school.
Inside the laboratory, which lies 75 miles (120km) northeast of Amsterdam, they found sleeping quarters and recreational areas.

Chief Inspector Andre van Rijn said the laboratory was able to produce cocaine with a street value of €4.5m to €6m (£4m to £5.4m) every day.
He added: "This is the largest cocaine laboratory ever found in the Netherlands.
"Given the number of people who worked there, the installation, the size, the furnishings and the equipment, we estimate the production capacity at 150kg to 200kg of cocaine per day."

Police footage showed equipment and supplies including plastic barrels, vats of chemicals and a row of five red cement mixers, used to extract cocaine from products like clothing that are impregnated with the drug before being exported to the Netherlands.

Chris Cornell statue outside MoPOP vandalized

A statue of late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell that sits outside MoPOP was vandalized Thursday, the museum said. The bronze likeness of the Seattle rock hero was commissioned by his wife, Vicky Cornell, and donated to the museum in 2018.
