That being said, I am smack-dab in between Seattle and Portland and it is like watching a 170-mile long tennis match of newfaggotry and misplaced angst that at my advanced age, I can only sit back and let my eyeballs roll back and forth observing the inexorable game of irl idiocracy

Best guess he doesn't want to look like a dictator. Even though every president when presented such situations used the fed to squash such riots. And then there's the liberal fed courts which are throwing a monkey wrench into any such efforts. And finally, and most ironic, I'm guessing he figures any action will hurt his chances for re-election. But not doing anything is just as corrosive.
