@Lovecraft Also, what I meant wasn't the fabric itself, but tartan patterns. The book is just a preview, and it cuts off before that part. Any mistakes I made were made from drawing from memory of something I read 12 years ago (Rawlinson placed in 19th instead of 18th century, for instance, and forgetting the juicier part- plagiarizing Irish culture)

Someone posted a meme as a response to Christians bitching about drag on the olympic opening ceremony, can't find it but it was something like "well drag and olympics are older than Christianity". Yeah, they are, but it's same thing as saying apples and sand are older than Christianity- they still don't have anything to do with each other. Olympics were a religious festival dedicated to Zeus, and I'm pretty sure ancient Greeks wouldn't be happy about having drag in them. It wasn't a long kilt, it was a tunic/toga thing. Highlanders aren't Scottish, they are Irish tribes that settled Scottish highlands. Lowlanders with the rise of nationalism adopted a lot of their culture thinking they are "restoring traditional Scottish culture", but "real" Scotland was always the lowlands one.
