1. i did put fencing around them again. i think a coyote was picking them off. haven't lost one since the fence is up even tho i still come home to see a straggler or two outside the fence that i need to coax back in

the last hatch of the year. a hybrid easter egger (full-size) cochin (blonky sired)
the last two halfbreed chicks got murked on hatch day
probably by goober. i can't kill her tho. she just wanted her own baby n her mom kept stealing it, this is her villain origin story.
mercury n child are safely in the small coop with the door closed since it's raining out n a little chilly
but i finally got my full/bantam half-breed.

nothing this year because it's usually just treats like yogurt n stuff but it had been raining out half the week so i couldn't spoil them
may seem a little fucked up but i got a present because when i let them out christmas morning, boober (my crossbeaked cripple chicken) was laid out on the coop floor. since she has passed, less food has been wasted being scooped out of the feeders and the waterers are less dirty. after the polar vortex passes i am gonna wash out the big waterers and just use tho primarily now.
artemis is broody and sitting on two eggs. in the middle of winter.
and since i had lost as many hens as i did i am giving away nuggetoni. because HOLY SHIT I FOUND MY POLAR CHICKEN OPPOSITE

she certainly lived a lot longer and more comfortably than she would have in the wild. i trimmed her beak, always resettled the food in the feeders and kept them extra full for her. she would even lay an egg about once a week... she was a special lady
